Israeli occupation veterans to Gallant: Our blood to be on your hands
In a letter, the occupation veterans described the judicial amendment as a judicial coup that is tearing apart Israeli society.
Today, Israeli media reported that veterans and former senior commanders in the Paratroopers Brigade of the IOF called in a letter to the occupation government to "immediately stop enacting the judicial amendments and conduct an honest and genuine national dialogue."
Israeli Channel 13 reported that this message effectively calls "to stop the legislation immediately before it is too late, and before an unprecedented crisis occurs."
The letter reads: "We call for an end to the madness of the authorities who are leading the country into complete chaos and towards an unparalleled constitutional crisis."
They added, "This judicial coup is tearing apart our society and undermining everything that unites us."
"The increasing trend of noncompliance to army conscription should serve as a warning signal to the government, to stop and rethink their course of action."
"The judicial amendments will substantially undermine the unwritten contract between the government and the reserve soldiers, and therefore their [the reserves] dissent is justified, even if we [the veterans] find it unacceptable to defy complying with the army conscription."
The signatories ended the letter with an appeal to the occupation government and specifically the Security Minister Yoav Gallant calling on them to "immediately suspend the legislative process, and engage in honest and genuine public dialogue, with all relevant parties. The responsibility rests with you."
In the same context, a veteran of the Shayetet 13 unit addressed the Minister of Security, saying: "The blood of the Israelis will be on your hands, do you understand that? You are dividing the army that you have established, you are sitting with criminals."
Earlier this week, about 20 Israeli representatives of flight squadrons and air force command and control units told Israeli occupation military Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi that most reservist air crews will stop flying if the "judicial reform" of the Israeli occupation government passes.
Additionally, Former Air Force commanders had urged in a letter the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to halt the legislative procedures on the judicial reform and find an immediate solution to the current situation.
The letter was reportedly written following the refusal of 37 reservist pilots - out of a total of 40 - of the Air Force's 69th Squadron to show up for training sessions scheduled this week, in protest of the new judicial plan.
