Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in northern Tel Aviv to protest against the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding the swift completion of a prisoner exchange deal.

On Monday, protesters set up several tents along Rothschild Street, the financial hub of Tel Aviv, as part of their demonstration. The protesters are urging Netanyahu's government to expedite the process and secure a prisoner swap as soon as possible.

Last Wednesday, the Israeli Families of Hostages Forum led a convoy of vehicles from Tel Aviv's Prisoners' Square to the outskirts of the Gaza Strip, echoing the same demands for an urgent exchange deal.

In a statement announcing the convoy, the forum expressed concern, saying, "The opportunity to bring everyone back home diminishes with each passing day."

The ongoing protests reflect growing public pressure on the Netanyahu administration to negotiate a deal that would see Israeli prisoners returned from Gaza, amidst heightened tensions and uncertainty.

A source in the Palestinian Resistance told Al Mayadeen that the recent mediate negotiations between the Palestinian Resistance and the Israeli occupation in Doha have failed, with the talks now on the brink of collapse.

According to the source, the meetings in Doha were unsuccessful in lifting the "veto" imposed on 65 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences.

The source further disclosed that the negotiations were heading toward a complete breakdown due to the Israeli occupation's refusal to engage with the proposals put forth by mediators to address the plethora of unresolved issues.

Hamas has reportedly expressed that the negotiations, in their current form, will not yield any agreement.

The mediators involved in the talks are said to be deeply frustrated by the occupation's intransigent stance, which they believe is the primary obstacle in the negotiations. Additionally, the source noted that Washington is not exerting sufficient pressure on the Israeli regime, despite being aware that its positions are unjustified.

Netanyahu throw tantrum over ceasefire deal

Axios reported on Friday, citing Israeli sources, that a cabinet meeting on Thursday erupted into a heated confrontation between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Security Minister Yoav Gallant.

According to the report, the discussions primarily focused on a proposed ceasefire deal in Gaza, which has been stalled for weeks after Netanyahu introduced new conditions to US President Joe Biden's July proposal for a ceasefire.

During the meeting, Gallant argued for moving forward with the deal, that it was not just about securing the release of captives but also a crucial strategic decision for "Israel."

Gallant said that a ceasefire could reduce regional tensions with Iran and Hezbollah, allowing the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) to regroup and shift focus to other threats.

Netanyahu, however, insisted on keeping the IOF fully deployed along the Philadelphi corridor on the Egypt-Gaza border, a position opposed by both Hamas and Egypt.

He presented maps showing the IOF's deployment and claimed that these plans had the endorsement of the Biden administration.

Gallant challenged Netanyahu, accusing him of misrepresenting the military's position, and argued that maintaining the current deployment could jeopardize the ceasefire deal and worsen regional tensions.

The argument escalated, with Netanyahu banging his hand on the table and accusing Gallant of lying. Gallant retorted, suggesting that Netanyahu's approach could undermine negotiations and put the captives' lives at greater risk.
