5 killed in strike on shelter for displaced in al-Wardaniyah, Lebanon
The Mayor of al-Wardaniyah, Ali Bayram, says the Israeli airstrike was carried out using missiles and resulted in the destruction of the four-story building.
Five people were killed and 12 others were injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting one of the shelters overseen by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the town of al-Wardaniyah, in Iqlim al-Kharroub, located in the Shouf District of Mount Lebanon, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health noted that unrecognizable body parts were recovered from the site of the demolished building.
According to our correspondent, the airstrike on al-Wardaniyah, which targeted the Dar Al-Salam Association center, is the first of its kind since the Israeli aggression on Lebanon began around two weeks ago.
The mayor of al-Wardaniyah, Ali Bayram, pointed out that the majority of the displaced are Lebanese, noting that the airstrike was carried out using missiles and resulted in the destruction of the four-story building.
Bayram called for the evacuation of the area, as requested by the Lebanese Army’s engineering unit, due to the possibility of an unexploded missile.
He further confirmed that the targeted center in the town was designated to accommodate people displaced by the war.
It is noteworthy that the town has become home to a large number of displaced persons from southern Lebanese villages that are under Israeli bombardment.
In a related context, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in South Lebanon reported that Israeli occupation forces targeted a volunteer civil defense center of the Islamic Health Association in the town of Wadi Jilo, resulting in the martyrdom of paramedics and injuries to others.
Additionally, Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the towns of Majdal Selm and al-Suwwaneh, according to the correspondent. Israeli airstrikes also hit the towns of Yater, al-Haouch, al-Sultaniyah, Arabsalim, Debaal, Jabal al-Rafi', Jabal Blat, Tebnine, Qlaileh, al-Bazourieh, al-Naqoura, and Aytit.
Furthermore, Israeli drones targeted two motorcycles in Tebnine and a vehicle in Shaqra, in the Bint Jbeil District.
Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression across Lebanon, launching airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in southern Lebanese towns, Beirut's Southern Suburb, and the Bekaa region.
According to the latest statistics from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the number of people killed in repetitive Israeli strikes on Lebanon has risen to 2,141 martyrs, while those wounded 10,099.
