Israeli airstrikes and gunfire have resulted in multiple casualties across the Gaza Strip, with attacks targeting displaced civilians and residential areas, an Al Mayadeen correspondent reported on Sunday.

A devastating Israeli strike on a tent sheltering displaced people in the al-Muharrarat area, west of Khan Younis, has left at least 10 people dead and others wounded, as the majority Muslim population of the blockaded strip marked Eid al-Fitr.

The death toll has risen steadily throughout the day, initially reported as four, then six, before reaching ten. Among the victims was an entire family, including children who were wearing their new Eid clothes at the time of the attack.

In eastern Khan Younis, a separate Israeli drone strike targeted a group of civilians, resulting in two deaths and 10 injuries. Meanwhile, Israeli shelling struck Al-Shuja’iya, east of Gaza City, and artillery fire hit Bani Suheila, also in Khan Younis, where another displaced persons’ tent was bombed, leading to one death and several injuries.

Civilians targeted in southern Gaza

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said 22 people were martyred throughout the day due to Israeli airstrikes.

Israeli forces also opened fire on civilians in Rafah, wounding a woman in the city center and another person in Anwar Dhahir Street, northeast of Rafah. In a separate incident, an airstrike on a house in eastern Rafah killed one person and injured another.

Moreover, a Palestinian medic, part of the Palestinian Red Crescent, was found killed by the airstrikes in Rafah, raising the total number of medics killed by the aggression to four.

In central Khan Younis, an Israeli strike targeted the Al-Aqqad family home, resulting in multiple casualties.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military released five Palestinian detainees through the Kerem Abu Salem border crossing.

Nearly 300 killed overnight

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz conducted an investigation revealing that the Israeli military carried out 80 airstrikes on 30 locations in the Gaza Strip last Tuesday while identifying only seven Hamas fighters and leaders by name.

The report highlighted that the Israeli forces killed around 300 Palestinians, the majority of whom were women, and claimed responsibility for targeting fighters from Hamas and the Islamic Jihad.

Meanwhile, UN Women cautioned earlier today of dire consequences for women and girls in Gaza following the collapse of the fragile ceasefire, highlighting "horrifying details" of human losses within just eight days of the Israeli occupation's renewed genocide.

In violation of a ceasefire agreement, "Israel" renewed early on Tuesday its war on the Gaza Strip, killing hundreds of people, the majority of whom are women and children, according civil defense agency in the Palestinian enclave.
