Israelis kill world-renowned Palestinian scientist, his family in Gaza
Dr. Tayeh was a leading professor in theoretical physics and applied mathematics and a globally prominent figure in both fields.
Since the temporary truce expired on Friday morning, Israeli occupation forces have committed tens of massacres across the Gaza Strip via airstrikes and artillery shelling, most recently being one of the most horrendous in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
More than 100 Palestinians were martyred in the Israeli strike that targeted a six-story residential building in the camp's al-Falouja neighborhood, which was sheltering displaced families who took refuge in the area.
Among the martyrs was world-renowned scientist Dr. Sufyan Tayeh, who was killed along with his family, and mourned by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as the Palestinian Ministry of Culture.
Dr. Tayeh was a leading professor in theoretical physics and applied mathematics and a globally prominent figure in the two fields. He was also the President of the Islamic University of Gaza, the Strip's top academic institution, which was destroyed by the Israeli occupation military during its aggression on Gaza.

Many activists and academics also mourned Dr. Tayeh and praised his academic achievements, believing that the occupation is deliberately targeting Palestinian scientists and academics as part of its aggression against the Palestinian people.
