Israelis says soldier killed by Hezbollah ATGM at Lebanese border
The Israeli occupation revealed that one of its soldiers died today after a "Kornet missile" was launched Wednesday at the border between occupied Palestine and Lebanon.
The Israeli military revealed that one of its soldiers was killed today, following what they described as a Kornet missile launch on the border between occupied Palestine and Lebanon on Wednesday.
Yesterday, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, published a video clip documenting its targeting of a gathering of a number of Israeli soldiers near the al-Jardah site, opposite the Lebanese town of al-Dhahira, with guided missiles, which led to a number of confirmed casualties among their ranks, including dead and wounded.
Despite the Israeli military claiming the attack was conducted with a Kornet anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). A quick analysis of the published video shows that the used ATGM is an older 9M14 Malyutka-type missile.
The missile design dates back to the sixties. Unlike the Kornet, which is semi-automatically guided to the target by the operator, the Malyutka is manually guided using a joystick, which requires significantly more skill to guide the missile.
Despite the Malytka's age and limited effectiveness against modern armor, it still can be used effectively against soft targets and lighter-skinned vehicles with a high degree of lethality, as demonstrated in the video.

The targeting comes as an initial response to the attacks launched by the occupation, such as the martyrdom of three Resistance fighters killed in an Israeli aggression on a Lebanese town near the Palestinian border on Monday.
The Hezbollah also said it targeted "Biranit" barracks, which is the command center of the Galilee Division, and the "Avivim" military base, the command center for a battalion affiliated with the Western Brigade.
We will be decisive in our response to the "Israeli attacks against our country and our people, especially when martyrs fall," the Resistance renewed its assertion earlier today.
