"Israel's" nuclear arsenal is a threat to the Middle East: Iran
Balouji reinstates "Israel's" refusal to sign the NPT and its involvement in standing in the way of an Iranian nuclear deal.
Iran's Representative at the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, Heidar Ali Balouji, blasted "Israel" over its acquisition of weapons of mass destruction and behemoth conventional military spending.
"In addition to its WMDs, the large arsenal of sophisticated offensive conventional weapons of the Israeli regime continues to threaten the peace and security of the region and beyond. This regime is the largest cumulative recipient of US foreign assistance since World War II," Balouji said.
“Last year, Israel with 5.2 percent of its GDP spent $24.3 billion [on defense] and is among the top five military spenders in the Middle East."
"Tel Aviv" had allocated a special $1.5 billion fund inside its military budget last year in preparation for an attack on Iranian nuclear energy and research facilities.
Iran's authorities have, repeatedly, expressed frustration over the international community's scrutiny and obsession with Iran's nuclear program while turning a blind eye to "Israel's" dangerous nuclear arsenal.
Earlier this month, Balouji asserted that "Israel" obstructed regional nuclear disarmament and urged the international community to exert pressure on "Israel" to ratify the NPT as a non-nuclear-weapon party and submit its operations to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.
"Israel" is not a signatory to the 1968 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, has nuclear weapons, and yet is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency - with all that, it is not subjected to IAEA inspection.
