US Vice President JD Vance has called on the Republican Party to increase efforts to mobilize voters, particularly those less likely to participate in US elections, following underwhelming results in recent state races.
In a post on X, Vance said he thinks "it's idiotic to overreact to a couple of elections in blue states," before praising grassroots activists and organizations like Scott Pressler and TPUSA for their voter registration initiatives, but emphasized that more needs to be done.
"Scot Pressler, TPUSA, and a bunch of others have been working hard to register voters," Vance's post read. "I said it in 2022, and I've said it repeatedly since: our coalition is 'lower propensity,' and that means we have to do better at turning out voters than we have in the past."
He emphasized the need to stay focused on long-term strategies for electoral success.

"We need to focus on the home front," the US vice president said. "The president has done a lot that has already paid off in lower interest rates and lower inflation, but we inherited a disaster from Joe Biden, and Rome wasn't built in a day."
Vance added that Republicans will continue working to "make a decent life affordable in this country, and that's the metric by which we'll ultimately be judged in 2026 and beyond."

Key issues ahead: immigration, sovereignty, and affordability
The vice president pointed to core Republican priorities, including immigration, national sovereignty, and promoting peace overseas, as critical to reconnecting with voters, noting that internal conflict will not help achieve their goals.
"The infighting is stupid. I care about my fellow citizens ... I care about immigration and our sovereignty, and I care about establishing peace overseas so our resources can be focused at home. If you care about those things too, let's work together," Vance wrote.
He also highlighted affordability as a defining issue for the upcoming 2026 elections, stating that success will be measured by whether life becomes more manageable, especially for young Americans.
Vance credited US President Donald Trump with already making strides in reducing interest rates and inflation, despite what he called the "disastrous" legacy left by the previous administration.
Trump reflects on losses, calls for stricter voting rules
Earlier in the day, Trump acknowledged that the November 4 state elections were not expected to be a Republican victory but stressed that the party had learned important lessons.
He reiterated his push for election reforms, including voter ID requirements and tighter restrictions on mail-in ballots, saying such measures are essential to ensuring secure elections in the United States.
The remarks followed Democratic wins in key gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, as well as the New York City mayoral election.
