The leader of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, Ahmad al-Sharaa, more commonly known as Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, called on Syrians to celebrate and rejoice at all squares, emphasizing the need to refrain from firing gunshots or causing public fear.

In a brief video statement released Friday, al-Sharaa urged Syrians to "head to the squares in celebration of the revolution’s victory, and let us move forward to rebuild this country.”

With previous ties to the al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist organizations, al-Jolani heads the group that managed, as part of an alliance, to capture most of Syrian territory and lead to the ousting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday.

On its part, the Military Operations Administration in Syria said it is putting efforts to maintain security in the capital Damascus, and safeguard public property, announcing the imprisonment of 2,457 individuals for “brandishing weapons against the people.”

Additionally, it reported the seizure of 5,648 weapons from individuals “who had no legitimate purpose for them” and noted that 1,600 people were imprisoned for “sectarian provocations and threats.”

The Operations Administration also warned that anyone posting sectarian videos would be prosecuted.

The administration announced Monday in a statement that "the new government will begin its work immediately after its formation."

It urged the public to "disregard false reports claiming the existence of underground or hidden prisons," emphasizing that "all prisons in Syria have been fully opened."

It also announced the arrest of some people who were inciting sectarianism among the crowds and threatening citizens and minorities, vowing to deal firmly with "any attempts to sow discord or issue threats, as the homeland belongs to everyone, and we will preserve its unity and the security of its citizens."
