Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and US President Donald Trump discussed regional developments on Saturday, according to the Jordan-based Petra news agency, with a particular focus on the situations in Gaza and Syria.
During the phone call, King Abdullah stressed the urgent need to exert efforts to halt the war on Gaza and ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid.
He also highlighted the so-called "success of the close coordination between Amman and Washington in de-escalating tensions in Syria."
This comes as the Gaza Strip continues to face a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, with widespread starvation escalating due to "Israel’s" ongoing blockade and deliberate restrictions on aid.
Since March, "Israel" has tightly controlled the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, exacerbating malnutrition, particularly among children, and triggering warnings from international organizations of an unfolding famine. Human rights groups have condemned the policy as collective punishment against a besieged civilian population.
Meanwhile, over 1,400 Syrians have been killed in ongoing clashes in Sweida. Clashes erupted between Bedouin tribes and the Druze community on July 13, and were then accompanied by relentless Israeli airstrikes targeting government forces.
