Jordan warns Blinken, rejecting attempts to displace Palestinians
Jordan reiterates its rejection of forcibly displacing Palestinians and the escalation of war in the Middle East.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting on Sunday with Jordan's King Abdullah II. Additionally, he visited a World Food Program warehouse in Amman as part of his ongoing urgent diplomatic mission in the Middle East to prevent the escalation of the Israeli war on Gaza.
During his meeting with King Abdullah, Blinken was told that Jordan completely rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as the King stressed the necessity of “enabling the people of Gaza to return to their homes.”
King Abdullah II “warned of the catastrophic repercussions" of the war in Gaza while calling on the US to press for an immediate ceasefire, a statement by the Royal Court said.
He pointed out that Jordan categorically rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which constitutes a clear violation of international law, adding, “We reject attempts to separate Gaza and the West Bank because they are an extension of the one Palestinian state.”

Earlier today, Blinken held a meeting with Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Amman, as part of his ongoing tour across West Asia.
Blinken's fourth trip to the region within three months coincides with heightened tensions following the Israeli assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy chief of Hamas' political bureau last Tuesday.
Additionally, international condemnation of "Israel's" genocide is on the rise as the number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli aggression has risen to 22,722, in addition to 58,166 injuries, since October 7, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
During the meeting, Safadi discussed with Blinken the ongoing developments in Gaza and the escalating humanitarian crisis resulting from the Israeli aggression which enters its 93rd day.
He also emphasized "the urgent need for an immediate cessation of aggression, the protection of civilians, and ensuring the sufficient and sustainable delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to all areas of Gaza."
