Kanye West will run in the 2024 US Presidential elections
West announces today his intention to run for US presidency in 2024.
Kanye West, a US rapper, has said that he will run for president of the United States in 2024.
West was asked by the cameraman in a video interview for the X17online tabloid during a visit to one of his studios if he planned to run for president, and the rapper simply responded, "Yes."
The rapper highlighted “This is Milo [Yiannopoulos, a US media personality famous for his far-right opinions] right here, working on the campaign."
West has been causing controversy over the past few months because of his controversial opinions, especially with regards to George Floyd and the BLM movement. He was also accused of making a number of anti-semitic remarks. He would later apologize after brands continued to drop him.
Adidas ended an arrangement with the rapper that has produced the popular Yeezy sneakers collection, after succumbing to a weeks-long pressure campaign, following in the path of other businesses that have also severed ties with West.
Famous retailer, Gap, had ended its partnership with West in September. The rapper had recently said in a podcast that he was key to Adidas' success, commenting, “I can say anti-Semitic things and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?”
Late last month, talent agency giant CAA dropped the rapper this week; fashion houses like Balenciaga and Adidas and banking giant JP Morgan Chase have followed suit. As a result, his total wealth plunged from a reported $2 billion to approximately $500 million right after the Adidas tie cut.
