Khan Younis under Israeli aggression, diseases ravaging the Strip
The Israeli occupation continues to perpetrate bloody massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip on the 297th day of aggression. The focus of the bombings has been on the southern and central regions of the Strip, resulting in further casualties and injuries.
The Israeli occupation's aggression against the Gaza Strip has now entered its 297th day, with ongoing bombings targeting multiple civilian areas.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported today that Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Strip, is experiencing intense Israeli attacks by both land and air for the eighth consecutive day. Israeli tanks have shelled the Sheikh Nasser neighborhood in Khan Younis, while artillery fire has struck the eastern areas of the city.
Simultaneously, Israeli occupation forces have blown up residential buildings in the town of al-Qarara, located north of Khan Younis, and subjected the towns of Bani Suhaila, Sheikh Nasser, and al-Qarara—situated to the east of Khan Younis—to intense artillery bombardment.
Local Palestinian sources have reported that Israeli forces targeted the minaret of al-Radwan Mosque in Khuza'a, east of Khan Younis, with artillery shells, resulting in its complete destruction.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in the Gaza Strip indicated that "the Sultan neighborhood axes are witnessing major confrontations between Resistance fighters and the occupation forces in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip."
In the central Gaza Strip, our correspondent reports that Israeli occupation aircraft have targeted agricultural land near the al-Matahin intersection, south of Deir al-Balah city. Additionally, they have conducted bombings in the eastern areas of the city. Also, artillery shelling targeted the northwest of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
In Gaza City, occupation aircraft targeted the home of the Daloul family near Bilal Mosque in al-Zaytoun neighborhood. The artillery shelling also targeted the area west of the Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that three martyrs were brought to al-Ma'amoudiya Hospital after being retrieved by residents of the al-Sabra neighborhood. The victims had been targeted by the occupation’s artillery several days prior.
In the same context, artillery shelling targeted the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
Skin diseases
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has highlighted a concerning rise in skin diseases across the Strip, particularly among children. This outbreak is attributed to germs causing widespread skin infections.
Abu Safiya highlighted that "skin infections are increasingly prevalent among the displaced due to inadequate hygiene, poor ventilation, and limited medical treatment." He explained that affected children exhibit symptoms such as elevated body temperature, persistent crying, and refusal to eat or breastfeed.
He added, "Cases may develop when the bacteria enters the blood, causing blood poisoning and sepsis, which may lead to death."
Poliomyelitis
In the same context, Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, has issued a warning about the emergence of a new virus causing polio in the central governorate of the Gaza Strip.
He attributed the virus to sewage contamination resulting from the occupation's bombings. Dr. Al-Daqran noted that the Palestinian Ministry of Health is collaborating with UNICEF to investigate the sources of this outbreak and address the situation.
He stressed that the hospital's health situation is dire due to the escalating number of infected children. The crisis is further compounded by the proliferation of insects during the summer, worsening the overall conditions.
