The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that Russian forces successfully repelled two attacks by the Ukrainian army in the Avdiivka and Donetsk directions. They reported eliminating up to 590 soldiers over the past 24 hours.

"In the Avdiivka direction, units of the Center group of forces, acting actively and coherently, took more advantageous lines and positions. Two counterattacks by assault groups ... of the Ukrainian army were also repelled in the areas of [the villages of] Orlivka and Tonenke in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.

The ministry also noted that during counter-battery combat, a US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery unit, a D-20 howitzer, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, and two D-30 howitzers were targeted.

The Russian Defense Ministry further reported on Sunday that Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the northwestern Novgorod Region.

Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems on duty over the territory of the Novgorod Region," the ministry said.

Novgorod Region Governor Andrei Nikitin stated on Telegram that the incident resulted in no casualties or damage. He also mentioned that regional authorities were coordinating with security forces and the police.
