Kiev forces suffer setbacks in counterattack attempts on Avdiivka: MoD
Kiev has lost 590 troops in the mere span of 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that Russian forces successfully repelled two attacks by the Ukrainian army in the Avdiivka and Donetsk directions. They reported eliminating up to 590 soldiers over the past 24 hours.
"In the Avdiivka direction, units of the Center group of forces, acting actively and coherently, took more advantageous lines and positions. Fire damage was inflicted on the manpower and equipment [of Ukraine forces] ... in the areas of the settlements of Maiorsk, Novokalynove, Berdychi and Rozivka in the Donetsk People's Republic. Two counterattacks by assault groups ... of the Ukrainian army were also repelled in the areas of [the villages of] Orlivka and Tonenke in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.
In this specific area, Ukraine suffered losses of up to 310 service members, one tank, and two infantry fighting vehicles, along with eight vehicles, as reported by the ministry. The ministry also noted that during counter-battery combat, a US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery unit, a D-20 howitzer, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, and two D-30 howitzers were targeted.

In the Donetsk direction, Russian forces reportedly neutralized two Ukrainian ammunition depots and as many as 280 soldiers, along with one tank. Ukrainian losses included three armored combat vehicles, five vehicles, an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery unit, and a D-30 howitzer, according to the ministry.

Moving to the South Donetsk direction, the Russian army claimed to have eliminated over 150 Ukrainian troops, two armored combat vehicles, and four vehicles, as well as two D-20 howitzers and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit.

In the Kupyansk direction, Kiev's losses exceeded 110 service members, two tanks, and three vehicles, with the ministry noting that a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery unit and two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery units were targeted during counter-battery fire. Additionally, a Ukrainian ammunition depot was reportedly destroyed.

Russia thwarts terror operation
The Russian Defense Ministry further reported on Sunday that Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the northwestern Novgorod Region.
"On March 10, at about 3:30 p.m. Moscow time (12:30 GMT), an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using airplane-type UAVs against objects on Russian territory was thwarted. Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems on duty over the territory of the Novgorod Region," the ministry said.
Novgorod Region Governor Andrei Nikitin stated on Telegram that the incident resulted in no casualties or damage. He also mentioned that regional authorities were coordinating with security forces and the police.

According to some Russian Telegram channels, of the three drones headed for St. Petersburg, two were shot down in Novgorod Oblast and one managed to fly within Leningrad Oblast.
