Kiev loses up to 540 soldiers in clashes with Russian forces
The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that its military forces inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian troops in multiple regions in 24 hours.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported Saturday that Russia’s Zapad (West) group of forces dealt significant damage to Ukrainian military units in the Kharkov Region and the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) over the past day.
Kiev's losses were estimated at up to 540 soldiers.
According to the Ministry, "The units of the Zapad group of forces have improved their tactical situation," with three Ukrainian brigades—mechanized, airborne, and jaeger—suffering defeats in the areas of Lozovaya, Zagryzovo, Kharkov region, Nadiya in the LPR, Olivovsky Yar, and the Serebryansky reserve.
In addition, Russia's Tsentr (Center) group eliminated up to 365 Ukrainian soldiers and repelled four counterattacks, while the Yug (South) group eliminated up to 225 Ukrainian personnel, repelled two counterattacks, and secured more advantageous positions, the Ministry stated.
The Vostok (East) group reported the loss of up to 150 Ukrainian soldiers, continuing their advance and repelling a Ukrainian counterattack.
Battleground gains
The Russian Defense Ministry announced Friday that Vostok (East) forces have liberated seven settlements and secured control over more than 300 square kilometers (115 square miles) within a month.
During a working meeting at the Vostok command post, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov received reports from commanders.
"The commander of the Vostok group of forces, Lt. Gen. Andrey Ivanaev reported to the Russian defense minister that during the month the group’s units have liberated seven settlements and taken control of a section of territory with a total area of over 300 square kilometers," the statement said.
Ivanaev further noted that the Russian military's use of high-precision weapons and attack drones had inflicted significant losses on the enemy in both equipment and personnel. The ministry also highlighted that Belousov was briefed on advancements in weapon modernization, aimed at enhancing the fight against enemy drones and communication systems, and shown samples of robotic complexes.
In recognition of their efforts, Belousov expressed gratitude to the command staff for their combat achievements and presented state awards to distinguished service members, the ministry added.
