The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Friday a massive explosion of unknown origin at a military battalion headquarters in the Al-Nayrab neighborhood, east of the city of Aleppo. The explosion resulted in thick plumes of smoke rising over the area.

Following the incident, ambulances rushed to the scene amid a state of tension and chaos as authorities attempted to determine the cause of the explosion.

Local Syrian sources stated that the explosion occurred at the Air Battalion headquarters in Al-Nayrab, noting that several civilians were injured and significant destruction was reported in the surrounding area.

Russia says relations with Iran are strategic, non-negotiable

This comes amid the recent unrest the country has seen, particularly in light of Israeli violations and bombardments of Syria.

"Israel" had been striking Syria since the war on Gaza broke out in October 2023, but the raids intensified in December 2024, when long-term President Bashar al-Assad was ousted by the current regime, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

Alongside airstrikes, Israeli occupation forces have occupied Mount Hermon and built at least 10 military outposts in southern Syria. This is accompanied by frequent incursions into the Quneitra countryside and other regions.

In a serious development, local Syrian sources told Al Mayadeen last week that an Israeli force consisting of three armored vehicles entered the village of Rakhla in the western Damascus countryside, near the Lebanese border opposite the town of Yuhmor in the Rashaya district. This was the first incursion of its kind into the area.

An Israeli special forces force carried out an airdrop in the Yafour area of the Damascus countryside, approximately 10 kilometers from the capital, with three helicopters participating, according to sources.

In detail, the landing targeted a site belonging to the former Syrian Republican Guard, where the search operation lasted for five hours before the force departed via helicopter.
