Lavrov to Iran: Talks on Nuclear Deal Must Be Resumed
Russian Foreign Ministry's statement, Sergei Lavrov informed his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amirabdollahian, that talks on the nuclear agreement with Iran in Vienna must be resumed.
Russian Foreign Ministry said today that Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has told his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian that talks on the nuclear agreement with Iran in Vienna should be resumed as soon as possible.
"The Iranian side perceived this signal with due seriousness," the ministry's statement mentioned.
In this context, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov discussed with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the situation related to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, during his visit to Vienna. It was noted that a high level of mutual understanding and cooperation between Russia and the Agency was demonstrated.
Earlier, the governments of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom announced that they were concerned about IAEA data, which stated that Iran had produced 20% enriched uranium metal and significantly expanded its capacity to produce 60% enriched uranium.
It is noteworthy that the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated a few days ago that Iran's actions are another deviation from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action due to the lack of progress in restoring the nuclear agreement.
