Lavrov: Attempts to isolate Russia, West seeking revival of unipolar world
Russian Foreign Minister slams the Western attempts to revive a unipolar world order.
Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said the West is responsible for attempting to revive a unipolar world order in light of developments in Ukraine.
In a speech he gave on Wednesday, Lavrov said the West's constant attempts to obstruct any contender are no longer secret to anyone and that is seen clearly during the latest developments between Russia and Ukraine.
He also said the ultimate goal is reviving a unipolar world.
Lavrov further added that today it's about Russia, and China's turn will come next, highlighting attempts to isolate Russia. The Russian diplomat slammed the US' insulting attitude toward China and other countries as cowboy-like.
Commenting on sending NATO peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, he said this would lead to a direct confrontation with Russia's forces.
The United States was aware that Poland was going to make a proposal on a NATO peacekeeping force, Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby told Al Mayadeen during a press briefing on Tuesday.
"I am aware that Poland was going to make this proposal [on a NATO peacekeeping force] today. I think that's a discussion for NATO leaders to talk about later in the week. I am not going to get into that," John Kirby told Al Mayadeen's correspondent in response to a question on the matter.
Kirby went on to cast the blame on Russia for the alliance needing such a force, to begin with, while asserting the need for it.
