Lavrov: Publication of presidential call by France breach of etiquette
A call between the Russian and French Presidents two days prior to the Russian special operation in Ukraine has been published by France 2 and Russian FM deemed it a breach of "diplomatic etiquette."
A call held two days prior to the beginning of the war in Ukraine between French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin was published by the broadcaster France 2 in a documentary on the French president’s approach to handling the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov responded to this incident calling it a breach of “diplomatic etiquette.”
On a two-day trip to Vietnam, Lavrov said that "Diplomatic etiquette does not provide for unilateral leaks of (such) recordings.” The details of the call were published publicly, however, Lavrov emphasized that Russia had nothing to be ashamed of regarding the content of the conversation.
The FM added that Russia “in principle leads negotiations in such a way that we never have anything to be ashamed of. We always say what we think and are ready to answer for these words and explain our position," he said.
Lavrov in Vietnam
Vietnam and Russia are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the two nations’ "comprehensive strategic partnership." In a show of solidarity and partnership, Lavrov visited Vietnam and said that "Vietnam is a key partner (of Russia) in ASEAN ... and the two countries' relations are based on history and their common fight for justice," referring to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

It is worth noting that Vietnam has refused to condemn Russia’s operation in Ukraine and furthermore sought to strengthen its relationship with its Russian partner by denouncing all Western allegations and sanctions against Russia.
