Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the Lebanese Army has arrested a number of individuals in the Matn area of Mount Lebanon for possession of items it has not disclosed.
Around ten people of various nationalities, Lebanese, Syrian, and Jordanian nationals, were arrested.
The Lebanese Army is continuing its investigations and has stated that it will release further information at a later stage, provided that it does not compromise the confidentiality of the ongoing inquiry.
The Army's Directorate of Orientation issued a statement saying that the initial investigation revealed that the detainees were not affiliated with any terrorist organizations. It indicated that the seized items had been handed over and that an investigation had begun with the detainees, under the supervision of the competent judiciary. Eight of the ten arrested individuals are Lebanese nationals, according to the directorate, while two others are foreigners.
It's worth noting that Lebanon experienced a period of security tensions during the Syrian crisis, witnessing numerous terrorist bombings, most of which occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut and claimed by various terrorist organizations, most notably ISIS and the al-Nusra Front.
