Syrian Army confronts al-Nusra terrorist attacks on Idlib, Aleppo
The Syrian Arab Army, in collaboration with friendly forces, continue repelling the terrorist attacks targeting Idlib and Aleppo.
The Syrian Armed Forces have countered a terrorist insurgence in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib, inflicting heavy losses on the adversaries' equipment and personnel, a statement by the Syrian ministry of Defense announced.
"In clear violation of the de-escalation agreement and at the insistence of regional and international employers, terrorist groups belonging to the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (banned in Russia) and located in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib carried out a major attack on a wide front on Wednesday morning, striking villages, settlements and military positions in these areas," the ministry stated on Thursday.
It further noted that the Syrian Army was still countering the attacks using firepower and the assistance of friendly forces, confirming heavy casualties among the terrorists' ranks.
Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Syria reported that armed groups operating west of Aleppo have unveiled the use of an advanced drone, reportedly acquired from Kiev's intelligence services.
Russian, Syrian forces destroy Al-Nusra headquarters in central Syria
For years, the Syrian Army, along with allied forces like Russia, have been combatting terrorist groups activated and backed by Western and Turkish forces. In August 2023, large-scale efforts to neutralize terrorist threats were activated in Syria, with the Syrian Armed Forces, in collaboration with the Russian Aerospace Forces, executing a series of precise airstrikes and artillery attacks on the outskirts of Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama.
Responding to the repeated assaults launched by terrorist groups on secure villages and towns across the countryside of Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama, Syrian army units -- working alongside the Russian aerospace forces -- have successfully targeted terrorist hideouts, missile launch sites, and drone installations through a combination of aerial and artillery strikes, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said on its page on Facebook.
These operations have resulted in the elimination and injury of numerous terrorists, it added.
Concurrently, Russian aerospace forces have targeted command centers of the terrorist group al-Nusra Front near Syria's Idlib, as stated by Vadim Kulit, the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria.
