Russian, Syrian forces destroy Al-Nusra headquarters in central Syria
Russian aerospace forces target the command posts of Al-Nusra terrorist organization in the Batenta village, 9 km northwest of the city of Idlib.
Syrian Armed Forces, in collaboration with the Russian Aerospace Forces, have executed a series of precise airstrikes and artillery attacks on the outskirts of Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama.
Responding to the repeated assaults launched by terrorist groups on secure villages and towns across the countryside of Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama, Syrian army units -- working alongside the Russian aerospace forces -- have successfully targeted terrorist hideouts, missile launch sites, and drone installations through a combination of aerial and artillery strikes, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said on its page on Facebook.
These operations have resulted in the elimination and injury of numerous terrorists, it added.
The Ministry also conveyed on its page that the army units have also effectively neutralized and brought down five drones operated by the terrorists, preventing their attempts to harm innocent civilians.
Concurrently, Russian aerospace forces have targeted command centers of the terrorist group Al-Nusra Front near Syria's Idlib, as stated by Vadim Kulit, the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, on Wednesday.
On August 22, the Russian aerospace forces launched strikes on the command posts of Jabhat Al-Nusra, a terrorist organization banned in Russia, situated in the Batenta village, 9 km northwest of the city of Idlib, Kulit told a briefing.
The operation resulted in the elimination of around 25 militants who were actively involved in planning and executing attacks on Syrian government forces' positions, as well as civilian infrastructure facilities, he added.
This comes shortly after a senior Russian officer confirmed that Russian and Syrian air forces targeted a command center belonging to Al-Nusra Front in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib that was responsible for coordinating attacks on civilian and military targets.
Terrorist groups are scattered in the city of Idlib and parts of its countryside, the majority of which belong to Al-Nusra Front, which HTS had spun out of and which is included on the international terrorism list.
Reports suggest that these groups attacked safe areas in the Hama countryside with rockets and drones, leading to the death and injury of civilians, as well as material damage to public and private property.
