Lebanese Army: 8 arrested, some of whom admitted to planning today's shooting.

A senior source in the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) told Al Mayadeen on Thursday that several Lebanese Force (LF) party members have been arrested today, as they are suspected to have participated in today's shooting against unarmed protestors.

The source confirmed that 8 people from LF, a right-wing political party, have been arrested so far, noting that some of them admitted to planning today's shooting.

The LAF tweeted that 9 people, including a Syrian national, have been arrested after the violence that erupted in Beirut earlier today.

The army announced that it would continue its deployment in the area where the ambush took place, to assure that no further conflicts ignite.

6 martyrs and dozens of unarmed protestors fell today in Beirut's Tayouneh area after snipers that had barricaded themselves on the rooftops of a building opened fire on them.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun condemned in his speech today's violence and vowed to hold those responsible accountable. Prime Minister Najib Mikati apologized to the Lebanese people and emphasized that he had contacted the Lebanese Army, who informed him that the security situation is improving after today's painful events.
