Lebanon mourned the loss of the patriotic icon of Resistance and liberation Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, former Lebanese President Michel Aoun said on Saturday following the confirmation of Sayyed Nasrallah's martyrdom.

Sayyed Nasrallah, whom Aoun described as always truthful to his promises, "guided the national Resistance movement along the path to victory and liberation [...] he was known for his [...] dedication to the people who reciprocated love to him and trusted and followed him with unwavering commitment."

The Hezbollah leader "will meet his creator with the peace of knowing his long years of struggle and Resistance were fruitful; his efforts culminated in the handing over of the responsibility to a new generation of young fighters," the former Lebanese President stressed.

Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri condemned the heinous crime, underlining that the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah "pushed Lebanon and the region into a new phase of violence."

Former Lebanese minister and senior political leader Suleiman Franjieh eulogized him with a short and meaningful message, saying, "The icon has now departed, and the legend is born; Resistance will live on."

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri

Sayyed Hassan was also eulogized by Lebanese Parliament Speaker and head of the Amal movement, Nabih Berri, who wrote some heartfelt words mourning him, in which he addressed Sayyed Hassan as his brother.

"I write to you now as you soar above, shedding tears for your parting, wishing to see you again, yet deprived by the flames [of war] of meeting you. 33 years we spent together as one, and not even the weight of entire mountains could break us apart. I write to you in your farewell, yet my words are lost, and I remain broken by your leaving in martyrdom."

Berri further wrote in his eulogy, "Any words that can be spoken in your goodbye are humbled by your greatness... all the words that can be said in your farewell fall short of your stature, which bowed only to God Almighty."

Lebanese Communist Party

The Lebanese Communist Party strongly condemned the "barbaric, cowardly crime" committed by the Israeli regime in assassinating Sayyed Nasrallah.

In its statement, the party announced its support for "Hezbollah, its leadership, cadres, fighters, and all its supporters, affirming that the blood of the Resistance's martyrs will not be shed in vain, as it will come back to haunt the fascist Zionists in the form of the liberation of Lebanon and Palestine, ushering in the downfall of normalization regimes and their protector, the United States of America, which oversaw this crime."
