Lebanese MoFA warns of Israeli desire to drag region into war
In response to the Israeli occupation's assaults on multiple Lebanese regions including the South, Baalbek, and the western Bekaa, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs submits a formal complaint to the UN Security Council.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Abdullah Bou Habib instructed departments in the Ministry to submit a complaint to the UN Security Council, through the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations in New York, following a series of Israeli attacks considered the most violent on the 11th and 12th.
The statement added that these developments call for more concern as this escalation comes in areas far from the southern Lebanese border, suggesting that "Israel" intends to expand the war and potentially entangle the entire region in a war. "Such aggressive actions could serve as the spark for a regional war... The Israeli government sees this as an opportunity to break free from its internal deadlock."
The Ministry emphasized in the statement the need for the international community to exert pressure on "Israel" to cease its ongoing attacks. It also urged members of the UNSC to condemn the Israeli assault on Lebanon and to work towards implementing Security Council Resolution No. 1701 to establish lasting stability and security along Lebanon's southern borders.
This statement follows an earlier report by the Lebanese NNA that a Palestinian was killed in a vehicle targeted by an Israeli drone in Tyre, South Lebanon.
