Israeli media reports injuries in ramming operation in al-Naqab.

Lebanon bids farewell to Reuters journalist amid anti-'Israel' chants

The journalist is laid to rest in the local cemetery in al-Khiam, South Lebanon, after his casket was held aloft on the shoulders of friends, family, and colleagues.

Funeral processions for the fallen journalist Issam Abdallah have proceeded from his hometown al-Khiam in South Lebanon. Abdallah was targeted yesterday by an Israeli strike on the outskirts of Alma al-Saab while covering the Israeli assault on Lebanon. 

The journalist was laid to rest in the local cemetery after his casket was held aloft on the shoulders of friends, family, and colleagues who chanted anti-Israeli slogans during the procession.

Yesterday, Reuters' videographer, Issam Abdallah, was killed by an Israeli strike in the town of Alma al-Shaab, southern Lebanon.

Two other Reuters Journalists, Thaer al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh, were injured. 

Several other journalists suffered critical injuries as a result of the Israeli strike which directly targeted them. Issam and others were wearing Press gear allowing easy identification, as they covered the unfolding events on the Lebanese-Palestinian border.

Later, Hezbollah issued a statement condemning the attack and assured retaliation. 

"The Resistance strongly denounces the crime committed by the Israelis targeting journalists in South Lebanon," Hezbollah said in a statement.

"The despicable crime of murdering Lebanese citizens, foreigners living in Lebanon and the harming of the peoples’ security will not go unpunished."

Hezbollah further extended its condolences to the family of martyr Issam Abdallah and conveyed its condolences to Reuters agency in Lebanon, Al Jazeera, AFP Lebanon, as well as all dedicated journalists committed to the cause of free and unbiased reporting.
