Lebanon lodges UNSC complaint against 'Israel' over ongoing violations
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry warns that these Israeli actions constitute clear violations of international law and directly threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty and food security.
Lebanon has lodged a formal complaint with the UN Security Council regarding "Israel's" continued acts of aggression against agricultural lands and livestock in the country’s southern regions, which violate the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, which ended the Israeli war on the country.
In a statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants detailed the major breaches, warning that these actions constitute clear violations of international law and directly threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty and food security.
The ministry emphasized that the Israeli attacks have inflicted extensive damage on agricultural roads and infrastructure in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of the "Seedling Cultivation" project in the Wadi al-Hujayr region supported by the World Food Program and the European Union.
Following consultations and coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign instructed Lebanon’s diplomatic mission in New York to file a complaint with the Security Council against "Israel".
The ministry called on the Security Council to take urgent measures to halt these Israeli attacks, safeguard the rights of farmers and fishermen in the affected areas, and protect their livelihoods.
It also demanded that "Israel" be held accountable for its actions and required to provide compensation for the damages inflicted on Lebanon’s agricultural sector and beyond.
Moreover, Lebanon urged Security Council members, particularly those involved in brokering the ceasefire, to adopt a firm and unequivocal stance against "Israel's" recurring violations of the agreement.
'Israel' continues to violate ceasefire; Lebanese Army deploys
Earlier, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation military has intensified its violations in South Lebanon, targeting civilian areas and demolishing homes in the town of Kfar Kila.
Israeli military vehicles were also observed moving from al-Hamamiss Hill toward the Abu Zainab roundabout and the settlement of Metulla, indicating further activity by invading Israeli units in the area.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in South Lebanon also reported that the Israeli army carried out an explosion between the towns of al-Dhayrah and Aalma al-Shaab.
In a related development, reports indicate that the Lebanese Army is preparing to establish a checkpoint and military site in the al-Salhani area near Ramya, following its entry into a position at the Ayta al-Shaab – al-Qawzah – Debel triangle.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in South Lebanon reported that the Lebanese Army entered the town of Ramya for the first time since the ceasefire went into effect.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army has begun deploying in strategic areas across the South, including Tayr Harfa, Wadi Ain al-Zarqa, and al-Batishiyeh, bolstering its presence in response to the escalating situation.
This comes as the Israeli occupation forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement reached with Lebanon, moving troops and vehicles within Lebanese towns and villages and carrying out several airstrikes, killing and injuring several people.
