Lukashenko supports high-speed rail linking Moscow to Minsk: Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's support for a high-speed rail to Minsk.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is in favor of building a high-speed railway line to Minsk.
Earlier in the day, Putin held a meeting discussing the development of high-speed rail in Russia. He stated that the construction of a high-speed railway linking Moscow to St. Petersburg marks just the initial phase of rail transport in the country.
According to the Russian news website FedPress, the Russian leader paid a visit to the Ural Railway Engineering Plant in the suburb of Yekaterinburg where he suggested that the production of high-speed trains could be established at the Ural enterprise.

He also stated that the construction of a high-speed railway linking Moscow to Ryazan, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Adler, and Minsk was feasible. In turn, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko supported the idea of building a railway connecting Moscow to Minsk.
"In the future, the organization of such communication in the direction of Ryazan, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Adler, as well as the capital of Belarus, Minsk, is quite natural, quite feasible. As for Minsk, we discussed this issue with the President of Belarus, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, and he also supports it," Putin said.
