Venzuelean-Brazilian relations started improving back in November 2022 following the election of Lula.
The last notable time the presidents of Brazil and Venezuela met was back in January during the CELAC summit in Argentina.
CELAC is a regional intergovernmental forum founded in 2010 to promote integration and development through the collaboration between Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Brazil rejoined CELAC under Lula after Bolsonaro suspended Brazil's participation back in 2020.
After taking office in early January, Lula vowed to haul Brazil out of former President Jair Bolsonaro’s four-year era of "devastation" and barbarism, promising to lead Brazil into a new chapter of environmental protection, social progress, and a "rational democratic" government.
