Recently, the bloc has undergone major expansion with the addition of several new members.
As 2024 began, BRICS officially welcomed five nations into its ranks: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
This expansion marks the first since South Africa joined over a decade ago and is expected to have significant geopolitical ramifications, supporting the alliance's multipolar goals.
Last year, BRICS experienced a period of substantial growth, fast-tracking various initiatives ranging from de-dollarization plans to this latest expansion bid.
The inclusion of the new member countries is expected to enhance the bloc's influence on the global stage.
