Man rams Russian consulate gate in Sydney
A 39-year-old man was charged after crashing his car into the gates of the Russian Consulate in Sydney and now faces multiple charges, including illegal entry, resisting arrest, and property damage.

New South Wales police confirmed that a car rammed into the gates of the Russian Consulate in Sydney on Monday. The incident caused damage to the property and left one police officer with an arm injury.
The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. Authorities reported that he was carrying a knife at the time of the incident.
Police later detailed a list of charges against the suspect, including:
- Entering enclosed land without lawful excuse
- Using an offensive weapon to prevent a police investigation
- Three counts of property damage
- Three counts of resisting or hindering police officers
- Possession of a knife in a public place
- Possession of a restricted substance

The Russian Consulate in Sydney confirmed there were no casualties and that “work continues as usual.” It said the suspect is providing testimony to police regarding his motives.
Employees are cooperating with the Australian Federal Police’s department for the protection of diplomatic missions to clarify the circumstances and strengthen Australian consulate security.
The motive behind the Sydney Russian consulate crash remains unclear. Police emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the intent behind the act.
