A source in the Palestinian Resistance confirmed to Al Mayadeen that the Israeli meetings with Egyptian and Qatari mediators failed to yield substantial or tangible progress.
The source added that the negotiations showed no progress, particularly regarding a ceasefire, withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and the return of the displaced.
The Resistance official stressed that in response to the proposals from the mediators, Hamas reiterated its firm stance on its key demands and affirmed its commitment to the document presented on March 14th.
Earlier on Wednesday, Qatar said that negotiations for a ceasefire in the Israeli war on Gaza had hit a roadblock due to Israeli objections to the return of displaced Gazans to their homes.
Speaking at a press conference, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, identified the return of internally displaced people (IDPs) as the primary issue impeding progress.
"The return of the IDPs to their homes, which the Israelis didn't agree to yet... is the main point we are stuck in," Sheikh Mohammed stated.
Despite weeks of behind-the-scenes talks, progress has been slow, with Ramadan coming to a close without a ceasefire agreement.
The major sticking points in negotiations mirror those encountered during previous talks in Paris in February, according to the Qatari premier. "Unfortunately, the points that we were stuck in when in February we were negotiating in Paris are basically the same points we are (still) stuck in," he remarked.
