Police have arrested more than 700 individuals in connection with the far-right riots, with authorities warning that "hundreds" more arrests are likely. Of the 741 people detained, 32 were accused of online offenses, such as incitement.

The operation's breadth is underscored by arrests carried out in 36 of the 43 police force areas across England and Wales. Those arrested face charges ranging from violent disorder to theft and antisocial behavior. Police anticipate that the nationwide investigations will continue for several months.

These developments come as communities and law enforcement prepare for further potential gatherings that could escalate into violence, prompting the largest police mobilization to address a public order threat since the 2011 riots in England.

Police have charged 302 individuals, with more charges anticipated, and have warned that additional cases will be brought against "rioters and those spreading online hate." The new statistics, released by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), include figures from Northern Ireland, where 26 people have been arrested and 21 charged in connection with the riots.

Detectives are utilizing a range of resources to identify suspects, including drone and body-worn camera footage. BJ Harrington, a chief constable and the national lead for public order cautioned that facial recognition technology, which is being used retrospectively, can identify individuals even if they are wearing masks.

The violent protests initially began on Tuesday July 30 in Southport after extremist far-right social media users falsely reported that the assailant in a knife attack that happened the day before, and killed three young girls and wounded multiple children at dance class, was a Muslim immigrant.

“We are aware that some protesters have breached conditions on Whitehall,” the Metropolitan Police said regarding the clashes that occurred in Whitehall, adding, “Officers are at the scene and engaging with protestors.
