Muslim Americans are feeling alienated this election season because they believe Democrats and Republicans are not doing enough to assist in resolving the war on Gaza, according to US Council of Muslim Organizations Secretary-General Oussama Jammal.

Jammal explained to reporters that the war on Gaza has "intensified feelings of frustration and helplessness within our Muslim American community," detailing how there is a belief that neither party is working hard enough to bring a "just and equitable resolution."

The Republican and Democratic parties have candidates whose policies and behaviors have been unfavorable to the Muslim American community, leaving them feeling politically adrift because neither party appears to fully coincide with their beliefs and concerns, Jammal noted.

He said that the Republican Party has generally been staunchly pro-"Israel", which can often marginalize Muslim Americans' viewpoints and concerns about Middle Eastern policies, notably the issue of Palestine.

Jammal also expressed worry about the Republican Party's stance on immigration and national security, which has included comments viewed as anti-Muslim.

Although the Democratic Party is more engaging with the Muslim American community, internal divisions about the war on Gaza and US complicity remain, which can lead to inconsistent policy positions and a lack of clear support for Palestinian rights and concerns.

Some Muslim American voters believe that Democratic politicians sometimes take their support for granted without making significant pledges to address their unique challenges, Jammal stated, adding that some are considering supporting other candidates or abstaining from voting.

It is worth noting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit Washington and address the US Congress on July 24.

US 'actively assisting' in Gaza genocide: Jewish Voice for Peace

The US-based Jewish Voice for Peace declared that "Israel" is carrying on with its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza with full support from the US.

In a series of social media posts on Tuesday, it stated that the genocide entered its 10th month and “is accelerating with full support from the US."

The organization further blamed the Biden administration for "actively assisting" the occupation in the genocide, especially following its decision to resume the transfer of 500-pound bombs to the IOF.

"The US isn't just allowing the Israeli [regime] to commit genocide; it's actively assisting it. It's well past time for a weapons embargo," the group said.

In early May, President Biden decided to suspend a weapons shipment to the Israeli occupation, which included 1,800 2,000-pound bombs and 1,700 500-pound bombs, due to concerns about the IOF invading Rafah, though the focus was on the 2,000-pound, as they were deemed inappropriate for use in such a densely-populated area.

However, a US official revealed that the United States will resume its shipments of 500lb bombs to the Israeli occupation, though it will adhere to its decision to refrain from sending 2,000lb bombs over concerns about their use and the scale of the destruction in Gaza, Reuters reported on July 11.

This comes after the Biden administration delivered substantial amounts of munitions to "Israel", including over 10,000 highly destructive 2,000-pound bombs and thousands of Hellfire missiles, since the onset of the war on Gaza, Reuters reported on June 29, citing two American officials familiar with an updated weapons shipment list.
