    US President Joe Biden

A poll conducted on November 17 by Redfield & Wilton Strategies revealed that only 51% of Democratic voters were in favor of US President Joe Biden running for reelection in 2024.

The poll, the results of which results were published by Newsweek, also found that 37% of the voters opposed him running again, while 12% said they did not know.

This comes despite the Democrats scoring better-than-anticipated results in the US midterm elections that took place last week, where they managed to keep a hold of the senate and maintain a large presence in the House of Representatives.

According to the poll, 29% of respondents strongly believed that Republicans performed worse than anticipated, while 4% strongly disagreed, 21% could not decide, in addition to 9% said they did not know.

Biden's age was the main reason for more than 60% of those who opposed him seeking another term, according to the voters, while 12% said that they believe there are other Democrats who are more fit for the position, and 9% that argued that it was because of his administration's economic policies.

The American President celebrated his eightieth birthday last Sunday, making him the oldest serving head of state in the history of the US.

Only 2% of those who voted "no" stated that it was because of the outcome of the midterm elections.

The poll included 1,500 eligible voters, where 797 respondents were asked about Biden's plans to rerun for the position.

The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll found that 61% of respondents who voted Democrat stated that they would vote for Biden over other Democratic leaders.

VP Kamala Harris came in a far second with only 12% saying they would vote for her, while Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg only received 9% and ranked third.

Biden is yet to formally announce a reelection bid, saying earlier this month that he will decide on the matter next year.

The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll found that 59 percent of Republicans supported Trump running again, compared to 32 percent who didn't and 9 percent who didn't know.
