Newsweek: Washington Should Concede and Return to Nuclear Deal
US-based Newsweek calls on the Biden administration to make concessions to Iran and return to the nuclear agreement.
According to Newsweek, US President Joe Biden and his administration must make concessions to Iran and "swallow their pride" to ensure the return of parties to the nuclear deal.
The magazine highlighted how for years, Washington assumed the maximum pressure strategy and "financial pain" would force the Iranians to cater to US demands, an assumption that proved to be fictitious.
A starting concession, according to the publication, would be to unfreeze some of Iran's tens of billions of dollars overseas, warning that the last thing the US desires is another conflict in the Middle East.
Newsweek further detailed how the maximum pressure policy was predicted to weaken and isolate Iran, when instead the US has become more isolated, and Iran became more emboldened.
Iranian FM: Talks on reviving Iran's nuclear deal will resume soon
There have been recent attempts between Iran and world powers to set a date for the resumption of talks to revive the nuclear agreement in Vienna.
Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian revealed, during a meeting with the new Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri, that talks on reviving Iran's nuclear deal with the 4+1 Group "will resume soon."
A senior US official recently expressed that the US hopes to resume nuclear talks with Iran soon.
"We're hopeful we can be back in Vienna (for talks)... in a fairly short period of time," the senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told reporters.
Six rounds of talks were held between Iran and international powers, including France, in Vienna during the period between April and June, in an attempt to revive the nuclear agreement.
