No violation against Yemen will go unanswered, Yemeni SPC says
The secretary of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council tells Al Mayadeen that Yemen would respond appropriately to any attack on its soil.
The Secretary of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Yasser al-Houri, underlined that any aggression on Yemen and its sovereignty would be met with an appropriate response from the Yemeni Armed Forces.
Talking to Al Mayadeen, al-Houri stated that the rules of engagement may change and are no longer in the hands of the United States and the United Kingdom, as the geography of the region is at the service of its people.
He pointed out that the Yemeni leadership is confronting the US, UK, and the Israeli occupation, underlining that Yemen represents the will of all the world's free people and states.
Regarding Yemen's role in supporting Gaza, he said the parties that tried to test Yemen's capabilities now know for certain that Yemen does what it says and has no empty words.
Al-Houri emphasized that the war Yemen embarked on in support of Palestine is humanitarian, and any party that attacks Yemen is against humanity and supports the Zionist entity.
He also noted that Yemen had been making sacrifices for its sovereignty, freedom, and independence for the past ten years, and what Yemen is prepared to offer to Palestine is insignificant compared to any of its sacrifices.
No sign of stopping
Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Sanaa reported that the Yemeni Naval Forces are not relenting, and their operations are still targeting US ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out on Wednesday an attack against the American-owned Genco Picardy as it sailed through the Gulf of Aden, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced.
Saree said that the attack came "in support of the plight of the Palestinian people and in solidarity with our brethren in the Gaza Strip, and within the framework of responding to the American-British aggression on our country."
Firing several anti-ship missiles, the Yemeni Armed Forces dealt "precise and direct hits" to the Genco Picardy.
The spokesperson reiterated that the YAF will not hesitate to target "all sources of threat in the Arabian and Red Sea, within the legitimate right of defending [Yemen] and supporting the oppressed Palestinian people."
Moreover, Saree warned the United States and the United Kingdom of an inevitable response to their attacks on Yemen, adding that any renewed aggression "will not go without retaliation and punishment."
Following the repeated US-British aggression on Yemen, the Yemeni Supreme Political Council of the Sanaa government declared that now "all American and British interests have become legitimate targets for the Yemeni Armed Forces."
On its part, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called on maritime shipping companies to pursue their operations in the Red Sea "as long as they are not heading to the Zionist enemy."
The Ministry said in a statement that operations targeting ships in the Red Sea are solely "limited to ships owned by the Israeli enemy or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine."
Terror designation
For its aid to the people of Gaza, Yemen's Ansar Allah movement was designated as "terrorist" by the United States. In response to Wednesday's decision to designate Ansar Allah as a "Global Terrorist", The head of the Yemeni national negotiating delegation, Muhammad Abdul Salam, said the US has used the designation for "political purposes".
He slammed the decision, emphasizing that it "will not deter [Yemen] from our steadfast support for the Palestinian people."
The official underlined that the decision will have minimal to "no effectiveness on the ground," adding that it will only "strengthen [Ansar Allah's] commitment to supporting" Palestine.
Ansar Allah's Politburo released a statement responding to the decision, saying that the classification "is ironically amusing, coming from the global state of terrorism."
The movement also shed light on the severe economic and humanitarian crises faced by the Yemeni people, which befell them due to US-led policy, which has disabled major governmental institutions and hindered prospects of growth in the country.
"Yemen has fundamentally been under economic siege by America, with the targeting of the Yemeni banking system disabled by Americans for years," Ansar Allah's Politburo stressed.
