Syria's transitional Foreign Ministry confirmed that it had not verified reports of shelling coming from "Israel," noting that "many parties may seek to destabilize the region to further their own interests."
The Syrian Foreign Ministry also affirmed, in a statement, that "it has not and will not pose a threat to any party in the region."
The Foreign Ministry also "strongly condemned the Israeli bombing that targeted villages and towns in Daraa Governorate," viewing it as " a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty that increases tension in the region," calling on "the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in halting these attacks and supporting efforts to restore security and stability."
Loud explosions were heard Tuesday in the occupied Syrian Golan, shortly after warning sirens were activated across the area, according to local reports.
Israeli media, including Channel 12, reported that several rockets were reportedly launched from Syrian territory toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
This marks the first rocket launch operation from Syrian territory against the Israeli occupation since May 5, 2024.
Shortly after the initial reports, Israeli warplanes breached the sound barrier over Syrian airspace, intensifying aerial activity across the southern region. Local sources confirmed to Al Mayadeen that Israeli drones were seen flying over the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa.
The Israeli Army Radio reported that the Israeli occupation forces had begun conducting artillery strikes against targets inside Syrian territory. The IOF also stated they were working to determine the source of the rocket launches.
