Occupation prepares for Day of Anger in Al-Quds and West Bank
In a move that risked sparking fresh confrontations, “Israel” deploys large military reinforcements in the Old City and Bab Al-Amoud area.
Israeli media reported that the occupation has deployed additional forces in the Old City and Bab al-Amoud area, preparing for further confrontations ahead of Friday prayers.
The Palestinians are expected to take part in a Day of Anger on Friday, in protest of ongoing brutal attacks on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Al-Quds, and to show solidarity with Palestinian prisoners who also declared Friday a day of anger against new repressive measures of the Israeli prison administration.
An assessment of the situation was made regarding the current developments in the Al-Quds neighborhood and the occupied West Bank in the presence of Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, the Israeli media added.
This comes following the declaration of Friday as a Day of Anger against the decisions of the Israeli prison administration by the Palestinian prisoners' movement.
Prisoners have also warned that they will launch a hunger strike, threatening to set fire to cells.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported Thursday that large military reinforcements were deployed to the vicinity of Sheikh Jarrah, pointing out that Palestinians are gathering in the neighborhood to confront a demonstration called for by extremist Israeli settlers.
The Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has witnessed continuous brutal attacks by Israeli settlers under the guard of the Israeli occupation forces during which Palestinians were forcibly evacuated, brutally beaten, and arbitrarily arrested.
