Egypt condemns the displacement of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah
Egypt expresses its concern about the provocative practices and attacks against Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the displacement of Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood, stressing that the Ministry is closely following up on the situation "with great concern."
This came in a statement published by the Ministry on its official page on Facebook today, Thursday, in which it commented on the attacks taking place in Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood in the Eastern part of occupied Al-Quds.
The statement warned that the Palestinians are subjected to provocative practices and attacks that could exacerbate tension in the city of Al-Quds.
The official Spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Hafez, said that Egypt condemns the attempts to expel the Palestinian population from their homes to change the demographic identity of the eastern part of occupied Al-Quds, stressing that these practices represent a violation of international law and international legitimacy and are a continuation of the policy of forced expulsion.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson stressed the need to protect the Palestinians and to stop the demolition of homes and the confiscation of lands in the occupied West Bank and the eastern part of Al-Quds, stressing that the continuation of unilateral measures undermines the chances of establishing the desired peace in the region and the "two-state solution".
Recently, the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood witnessed confrontations between Palestinians and the Israeli police, who attacked the neighborhood's residents and solidarity activists and arrested dozens of them.
It is worth noting that tension has prevailed in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood for years due to the Israeli attempts to expel Palestinian families from their homes, claiming that they belong to the Israeli occupation.
