Oil tanker struck in drone attack off coast of Oman Israeli act: Iran
Iranian sources say that targeting the Israeli ship off the coast of Oman is an act that aims to damage the relations between Tehran and Doha.
Iranian TV, citing informed sources said that "targeting the oil tanker is an Israeli act that was implemented in cooperation with some regimes in the region."
"The goal behind the attack on the tanker is to accuse Iran and cast a shadow over the preparations for the World Cup in Qatar," the Iranian sources said, noting that "'Israel' as well as others that boycotted Qatar, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE, will spare no effort in showing hostility to it," Iranian sources said.
"Tehran had reassured Doha that it would make every effort to organize these games in a calm atmosphere and work to make them a success," the sources noted.
In this context, the director of the Al Mayadeen office in Tehran suggested that the aim of the attack on the tanker off the coast of Oman is to damage the relations between Qatar and Iran."
The director of the Al Mayadeen office explained that "the main aim from the calls for a strike, which failed, is to strike the economy," stressing that "these calls were not answered, neither in Tehran nor in other provinces."
Israeli media reported earlier today that an Israeli owned oil tanker was attacked by a drone off the coast of Oman. Reports clarified that an armed drone attacked Liberian-flagged oil tanker Pacific Zircon, which is operated by Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping, and ultimately owned by Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer.
