More than 10,000 people took to the streets of Frankfurt am Main on Saturday in a major pro-Palestine protest organized under the banner "United 4 Gaza." The turnout exceeded initial expectations of 5,000 participants, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, citing local police sources.
Organizers described the protest as the largest solidarity with Gaza demonstration held in the city since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Demonstrators expressed support for the Palestinian people, demanding an end to "Israel’s" bombardment and siege.
Some participants reportedly chanted slogans that are prohibited under German law and drew comparisons between the ongoing war in Gaza and the Holocaust. Police intervened multiple times during the march, temporarily halting the procession, according to local reports.
Despite this, the protest remained largely peaceful and underscored growing public dissent in Germany regarding the government's alignment with "Israel" and its military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Context of ongoing aggression on Gaza
On August 20, the Israeli occupation’s former Security Minister, Yoav Gallant, approved plans to seize Gaza City. Military sources reported that up to 130,000 reservists could be involved in the operation, which is expected to extend into 2026.
A day later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave his approval for a broader campaign aimed at gaining control of Gaza City and defeating the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

German brutality against pro-Palestine protesters
At a separate protest held in Berlin earlier this week on August 29, German police had a more brutal approach when it came with dealing with protesters.
In a video shared across social media, German police officers were seen punching Irish activist Kitty O’Brien multiple times before arresting her.

As part of previous crackdowns, the German government banned pro-Palestine slogans, convicting 22-year-old German-Iranian national, Ava Moayeri, for the alleged "crime" of heading the chant "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."
Moayeri was fined 600 euros due to the German courts' ruling the slogan ambiguous on whether it is against the "right of the State of Israel to exist."
German authorities have been reported to take extreme measures in their crackdown on pro-Palestine voices, with cases of activists being detained in their homes in the middle of the night.
In April 2024, per Hebh Jamal from ScheerPost, German police raided the homes of activists where they searched their belongings and seized electronic devices.
One activist told Scheerpost that she had been targeted due to a social media video she posted about the action against Israeli diplomat and ambassador to Germany Ron Proser.
"We are not only attacked and arrested, but prematurely handpicked from a crowd while attending lawful protest gatherings," she said, adding that she once had her fingerprints taken along with mugshots before being imprisoned.
Separately, earlier in April 2024, German police detained a middle-aged woman after she posted "From the river to the sea Palestine will be free" on social media.
