At least 24 have been wounded in the mass shooting that hit the capital of the Czech Republic.

According to the Czech Republic's police chief on Thursday, a mass shooting that occurred at the Prague Charles University campus has killed 15 people.

Police chief Martin Vondrasek told reporters that over 15 people died at the city's historic center and "at least 24 have been wounded."

According to Czech media, the shooting took place at the Faculty of Arts, where students and staff were told to take cover while police hunted the gunman.

The police afterward announced on X that the gunman was eliminated.

The statement detailed that an evacuation was being undertaken, and there were "several dead and dozens of wounded people on the scene."

The Czech government has reported that there is no indication the shooting is related to "international terrorism".

Interior Minister Vit Rakusan told reporters, "There is no indication that this crime has any link to international terrorism," citing that the gunman was "probably dead" based on "preliminary information".

Rakusan added that no other gunman has been confirmed and urged civilians to follow police instructions.

Czech President Petr Pavel expressed that he was "shocked" by the shooting.

Pavel, currently in Paris for a two-day visit, expressed on X that he was "shocked by the events... I would like to express my deep regret and sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims claimed by the shooting."

According to Nova TV, there was a blast and a shooter on the building's top, and police blocked the neighborhood and ordered residents to stay inside.
