Palestinian prisoner Adnan sends message to Gaza amid hunger strike
PIJ official Khader Adnan sends a message from prison saying that his health condition is constantly deteriorating and that his hunger strike entered a critical stage yesterday.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad official and prisoner Khadr Adnan is still on hunger strike for 51 days to protest his arbitrary detention despite the continuous deterioration of his health condition and the Israeli occupation's refusal to comply with the prisoner's legitimate demands to have his arbitrary detention lifted, the Muhjat Al-Quds prisoners' affairs association said on Monday.
The prisoner sent out a letter from prison, detailing his health condition and addressing the valiant people of Gaza, which read as follows:
"My health condition is constantly deteriorating, and since yesterday, my hunger strike has entered a critical stage; I began vomiting stomach acid, and my dizziness and imbalance increased significantly. I am unable to move without a wheelchair, and when I stand sometimes, I feel very dizzy and fear collapsing to the ground. I feel uncomfortable drinking water and suffer from a lack of sleep, especially at night. I suffer from back pain, and my weight has decreased significantly.
My beloved, prideful family in Gaza, I salute you and hail you from prison and amid my hunger strike as you stand in solidarity with your loving son and brother who pales in comparison with your great sacrifices[...]
Palestinian prisoner,
Khader Adnan"
He also called on the people of Gaza to pray for his freedom.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club on Sunday held the Israeli occupation prison administration fully responsible for the life of prisoner Khader Adnan, 44, from the town of Arraba in Jenin.
In a statement, the Prisoners Club indicated that Adnan began to vomit blood, suffers from severe pain all over his body, and has difficulty speaking and concentrating.
Despite his arduous health condition, which is deteriorating with time, the prison administration has not spared Adnan from abuse since his arbitrary arrest on February 5, the Club pointed out.
For more than 50 days, the Israeli occupation's prison administration has refused to provide Adnan with clothes, as he is still wearing the same clothes he had on when he was arrested, the statement highlighted, adding that the prisoner has not showered since the day of his arbitrary arrest.
On Thursday, the Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees held the occupation fully accountable for the life of Sheikh Khader Adnan, calling for intensifying the support campaign in solidarity with him, in light of the occupation's procrastination to respond to his demands.
A few days ago, Adnan's wife told Al Mayadeen that her husband refused to undergo medical examinations. The detainee's lawyer, who visited him recently, described his health condition as "very bad".
His wife added that her husband "is freezing in a cramped insect-infected cell, with a closed window, and suffering from constant harassments and pressure aimed to stop his strike and to undergo medical examinations."
