Many of those in Europe, according to the Kremlin spokesperson, will be surprised when they find out who the saboteurs are.

On Friday, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, said that if the perpetrators of the destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipelines are made public, many in European countries will be surprised.

"We work through diplomatic channels. It [the work] is being conducted, it is being conducted very intensively with the mentioned countries, but so far, we bump into the wall of unwillingness to somehow interact and unwillingness to get together to the truth, which will surely surprise many in these European countries if it is made public," Peskov told reporters.

Peskov said that the international gas hub which will run through Turkey from Russia is in the interest of both Ankara and Moscow, however there are no details concerning the project yet.

"The presidents gave instructions to immediately start negotiations and consultations with the relevant departments of the two countries. This initiative, in fact, is in the interests of both Moscow and Ankara, so now all the nuances will be worked out," Peskov told reporters.

Last Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the establishment of a gas hub in which the EU will be able to make purchases of Russian gas via Turkey.

So far, there isn't a full understanding of how and to which clients the Turkish hub's gas will be supplied, noted Peskov.

By the end of September, a 500kg TNT exploded in the Baltic Sea, damaging both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.

Russian Foreign Intelligence Service chief Sergei Naryshkin told reporters at the time that Russia already holds proof that the West is accountable for the pipeline explosions.

"We already have some materials that point to the Western footprint in organizing and carrying out this terrorist act," Naryshkin said. He expressed that the West does everything to "hide the true organizers and perpetrators of this international terrorist act."
