Peskov: Turkish drones facility in Ukraine to be targeted
Following claims that Turkish company Baykar is developing a weapon-building facility in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Pekov responds.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded Tuesday to the Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar's claim that a Bayraktar factory is being built in Ukraine. Peskov made a clear statement that any such factory will be considered a military target for the Russian forces.
Peskov told reporters that "The very fact of creating such a facility, which, of course, will immediately fall under demilitarization - this must be understood - of course, this will probably only prolong the suffering of Ukrainians, but will not help to avoid what is the goal of the special military operation."
Earlier on Monday, during an interview with RBC Ukraine, Bodnar said that a Baykar factory, which produces the Bayraktar attack drones, is underway in Ukraine.
Bodnar said that "The factory will be built. Just a week ago, the government approved the bilateral agreement and sent it to the parliament for ratification, the agreement on the construction of the plant itself."
The Ukrainian diplomat had also said that before the introduction of the American HIMARS, the Bayraktar TB2 drones were without a doubt one of Ukraine's most prized weapons during the early stages of the conflict.
