Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf praised President Masoud Pezeshkian's stance on negotiations with the "delusional" President of the United States, Donald Trump, regarding nuclear issues.
During a parliamentary session on Sunday, Ghalibaf stated, "I find it necessary to express my special gratitude for Pezeshkian’s position in rejecting negotiations with the delusional US president."
The Iranian president has correctly adhered to the principle of internal consensus and wisely followed the guidelines set by the Leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, thwarting the enemy’s plans to create division over the negotiations, Tasnim News cited the Iranian official as saying.
The parliament speaker also noted that "the unified voice and integrity of Iranian officials, in line with the leader’s policies, will serve the country well in foreign policy and force the enemy to rethink its calculations in dealing with the Iranian people."
Pezeshkian: Iran unwavering against 'Maximum Pressure'
On Thursday, Pezeshkian said that Iran "will not be subjugated and we will solve our problems by relying on the people," in a meeting with intellectuals and elites in the province of Bushehr in Iran, adding that Trump claims he wants to negotiate, yet imposes the "toughest sanctions on Iran."
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran is looking to "establish cordial and friendly relations with our neighbors" and expressed Iran's willingness to negotiate, contrary to the United States claim that Tehran is unwilling to negotiate while restricting Iranians' access to essentials including medicine.
“We do not want anyone to sanction us," Pezeshkian said, adding, “It is not that if the US imposes sanctions on us, we cannot do anything. We will run the country by relying on domestic capabilities," emphasizing Iran's self-reliance.
This comes in response to Trump promised to reinstate his "Maximum Pressure" campaign and imposed the first sanctions targeting three Iranian oil transport vessels that assisted in the transportation of oil to China, and multiple businesses and people involved in the process.
