PIJ condemns upcoming Herzog meeting with UAE officials
The PIJ questioned the meeting between the Israeli President and UAE senior officials, at a time when the world has taken a collective stance against the occupation's crimes.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) condemned an upcoming visit of the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, to the United Arab Emirates.
"Receiving the president of a criminal entity that commits monstrous massacres against our people," encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its crimes against Palestinians, a statement released by the PIJ read.
The Resistance movement questioned the motives leading to such a meeting in an Arab capital, which will see a meeting with a "Nazi criminal" at a time were people around the world are condemning the occupation and taking diplomatic and popular action against it.
Herzog targets COP28
Herzog is expected to travel to the UAE on Thursday to meet with senior Emirati officials. The visit coincides with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, where representatives of 196 countries are anticipated to attend.
During the visit, Herzog is expected to seek international support for the occupation, which has faced challenges to its global standing. The world has become increasingly aware of the Israeli actions taken during its aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has led several states to call back their ambassadors from occupied Palestine.
The international community has recently taken a stance against "Israel's" occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, which is yet another extension of "Israel's" disregard for international law.
UNGA majority stands against Israeli crimes
On Wednesday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution urging "Israel" to withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The resolution was sponsored by a group of nations including Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Venezuela, Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and others.
91 countries voted in favor of the resolution including Russia, Brazil, India, China, and Saudi Arabia, while eight countries voted against the resolution including Australia, Canada, "Israel", the UK, and the United States.
The resolution comprises eight preliminary clauses, the first emphasizing that "Israel" has not implemented the 1981 UN Security Council Resolution 497, which declared the Israeli "annexation" of the Syrian Golan Heights null and void.
This adds to yet another defeat that Israeli diplomats faced in the UNGA, when 120 countries voted in favor of an Arab-led draft which called for a humanitarian truce as well as aid access to the besieged Gaza Strip late in October.
"Israel" faced with an impossible task
Israeli efforts to remobilize global public opinion and official stances to its favor, come at a time when its propaganda machine has failed to justify its attacks on hospitals, civilians, and residential areas. "Israel's" image has also taken a devastating hit, following the proceedings of the prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinian Resistance. After every release, the difference with which the Palestinian Resistance treated Israeli captives and how Israeli authorities brutalized Palestinian detainees, only grew clearer.
Herzog's team will be faced with the almost impossible task of rebuilding a global effort against Palestine in a normalizing Arab state.
