The Leadership Committee of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's (PIJ) detainees in Israeli prisons delivered a message to the public in a letter broadcast exclusively by the Al Mayadeen Network.

The message offers an insight into the suffering experienced by Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, especially under the harsh policies employed by Israeli authorities since October 7, 2023.

"What is happening in prisons and detention centers is beyond imagination and unprecedented throughout the history of the Palestinian national struggle," the letter reads.

According to the commission, Palestinian detainees are subject to severe physical abuse, humiliation, starvation, deliberate medical neglect, and widespread untreated diseases.

"The leaked footage from 'Sde Teiman' is just a glimpse of the terror, assaults, and violence we endure in these prisons," the Commission said in reference to the detention camp where Palestinians abducted from the Gaza Strip are being held and tortured.

The Commission added that such practices against Palestinian detainees are not limited to one detention center or prison.

It warned of "assassination attempts" against imprisoned Palestinian leaders who are isolated in "unknown cells, locations, and camps."

"We call on our people, under the leadership of the Resistance, to form a collective Resistance-based leadership to confront the attempts to erase and displace our people," the Commission stated.

"There is no time for infighting and power-seeking under the occupiers' bayonets," the letter underlined.

The Commission also saluted the factions supporting the Palestinian people in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and Iraq.

Rape, abuse markers of Israeli prisons

Earlier last week, footage leaked by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz showed Israeli occupation forces torturing Palestinians in one of its prisons infamous for human rights abuses and inhumane treatment.

Reports indicated that the video was filmed in the Israeli occupation's Megiddo prison in occupied Palestine. The Palestinian detainees are forced to lie face down on the ground with their hands zip-tied behind their backs as the soldiers move around dogs to terrorize and abuse them.

If inspected closely, many of the detainees seem to be young as the occupation is known for detaining Palestinian youths.

Such footage only scratches the surface of horrific crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners by Israeli jailers. A case in the Sde Teiman detention camp saw Israeli soldiers gang-rape a Palestinian prisoner for their own amusement.

Thousands are currently locked up in detention camps and prisons to the point where Israeli authorities do not execute detainment orders due to the lack of space to hold more Palestinians.
