PMF launch security operation in Al-Tarmiyah
The Popular Mobilization forces launch a search operation in Al-Tarmiyah to secure the rural areas in the district from ISIS militants.
The Popular Mobilization Authority in Iraq announced Sunday that "a force from the 12th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization has launched a raid and search operation" for several areas in the city of Al-Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad.
In a statement, the Authority explained that the operation was launched to secure the rural areas in the district from ISIS militants "who may be stationed in areas far from the city centers."
"The operation also included intensifying the deployment of the brigade's forces and securing targets designed to maintain security gains and stability within areas north of Baghdad," the statement read.
Al-Tarmiyah district is considered one of the districts that still poses a threat to the security forces, due to the presence of ISIS militants in dense orchards that make it difficult for the security forces to penetrate.

Earlier, the Popular Mobilization Authority announced the launch of a search and security operation in southwestern Samarra.
This comes after the PMF thwarted Saturday a terrorist attempt to target Tal Afar district of Nineveh Governorate.
It is noteworthy that last August, ISIS militants launched an attack on the headquarters of the 12th Brigade in the district, killing three soldiers and the commander of the brigade, in addition to wounding eight other soldiers.
